Inspired by classic Danish furniture design, the Moomin Crutches are hand made to order in Denmark by Vilhelm Hertz who are a new, innovative company that designs and manufactures their gorgeously unique range of products in their own workshop.
Vilhelm Hertz put a great deal of emphasis on the choice of materials that age beautifully and thus last for many years. They manufacture the Moomin Crutch, bespoke to your individual size and needs. The special characteristic of a Vilhelm Hertz crutch, namely the flexibility, allows them to tailor their crutches to fit you, perfectly.
The Moomin Crutch can be produced with either carbon fibre or aluminum shaft. The wooden forearm supports are crafted out of Oak or Ash with recycled aluminium used for the support section in the centre of the crutch.
The benefit of using carbon fiber is that it is an incredibly strong material and at the same time has amazing properties so that the stick bends slightly when exposed to pressure. It means that the shock that goes through the crutch every time you put it in the ground, is absorbed into the arch, instead of continuing up through the arm to your elbow and shoulder. For the carbon fiber shaft, you have the choice of 10 or 12 mm Ø depending on how rigid you prefer the crutch to be
