Product News: S'up Feeding Spoon for Shaky Hands

By Katherine  |  7 Feb 2018 13:00:00

The simple act of eating is something many of us take for granted, but with shaky hands or a tremor it can be really difficult and almost impossible to feed yourself a bowl of soup, cereals or any meal that requires a spoon. A tremor or shaky hands can be caused by a range of medical conditions, such as cerebral palsy, Parkinson's disease, MS, stroke, brain injury or even alcoholism.

One such person is Grant Douglas who has cerebral palsy but he has not let it get in his way. He works and has a good social life but trying to feed himself a bowl of cereals was near-on impossible. After searching for a solution he worked out that he needed a spoon with a lid and took his idea to an industrial designer, the result is the S'up spoon. They soon reaslised that S'up would be helpful for many others people.

S'up is discreet enough to be used in restaurants and has been designed to be ambidextrous, food safe and dishwasher safe. You can see Grant's story below in the S'up spoon video.
